Contemporary Drawn Thread Forests Learn to create a three-dimensional, layered  forest and rolling landscape by withdrawing weft threads, so that some trees lie on top, others behind! The sky and foreground are painted in class in student's choice of seasonal color. This class explores planned thread removal, re-weaving, wrapping and a  variety of raised embroidery techniques to give a wonderfully three-dimensional effect using over dyed threads.

A fascinating world of contemporary drawn thread embroidery lies beyond traditional methods  by planned cutting and withdrawing of threads to reveal the layering of an intertwining matrix. Almost by magic, an interwoven matrix emerges from a solid piece of canvas. The layers are enhanced and further separated by wrapping, weaving, and buttonholing the remaining threads which lie on the same planes.
