Amaze and impress your friends as you stitch completely reversible bookmarks – exactly the same on the front and back! This class will introduce students to the double-running or Holbein stitch which produces reversible embroidery. The class will begin with a simple black work band sampler to introduce the double-running technique; patterns for a second bookmark to introduce shading in black work and a third pattern for patterning in black work are in the booklet for this class. The bookmarks are worked on Zweigart® Stitchband, a 3 ¼” wide, 28 count raw linen color band pre-finished on the edges. Students will learn a hem-stitch finished edging for the top and bottom. Basic tips and techniques including threading a needle to avoid a beginning tail and invisible endings are covered. Participants will leave with a band sampler bookmark well on the way to completion and ideas for additional projects.
